Millenium silver 1 punt / pound coin
"Silver 1 punt / pound coin issued by the Central Bank of Ireland to commemorate the second Millenium of the birth of Christ in a secular manner. The obverse depicts the Gaelic Harp and the reverse a stylized ancient ship with long oars, with a cross as a mast, with the cross bar canted to give the perspective of looking to the two stars in the field above to the right of the mast of the ship, depicting navigation using the stars. The ship was designed after a gold boat found in 1896 in Northern Ireland, the Broighter Hoard, originated in the First Century B.C. and currently in the National Museum in Dublin. It is the last Irish coin design prior to the introduction of the Euro."
