The Congo Jacket

"This jacket was given to me by my next door neighbor named Murphy he got it in the Congo. It was one of the many souvenirs Irish troops brought back from that country. Another favorite was the bow and arrow. At one time every second boy on the Curragh wore these jackets plus trousers and hat all camouflage. Apparently they were never used by Irish U.N.troops I've been informed by those who know of such matters that they were wore by Belgian paratroopers. I can't vouch for that but they were brought home in there hundreds by returning Irish soldiers in the early 1960s. Where did they buy/ acquire them is lost in the past This could be the last one."
