Linen for waking the dead

"Our grandmother was a person who 'laid out' the deceased locally in Rush Co. Dublin. She herself was probably the last person who was waked in this linen in 1962. It was always beautifully laundered and packed away after use. We found it stored in a drawer when clearing an aunt's house. As far as we know the lace was handmade by our grandmother."
