Cigarette cards

"Some of these cards come from W.D. & H.O. Wills and some come from Lambert & Butler which is a branch of The Imperial Tobacco Company of Great Britain and Ireland. The purpose of cigarette cards was to stiffen the cigarette package which was made of lighter paper than today. In time, cigarette companies realised that if they produced a series of different images, then smokers would collect the cards, and this created what we call today 'consumer loyalty'. The series included here are: Flowering trees and shrubs.(a series of 50 cards). Motor Cars ( a series of 25). Motor Cars second series (of 25 cards). Motor cycles ( a series of 50) Cigarette cards are highly collectible and individual cards can reach prices as high as $2,800,000."
