Gas mask

"Gas Masks were issued to the people of Dublin in 1942, I was born in 1937, and I can recall been issued with a mask with my mother and my two sisters in 1942 at the Church of Ireland school ,on Phibsboro Rd. When the war came to an end in 1945, every child in my area of Broadstone, played solders with the masks, I do believe that very few of the masks survived the children's war. the mask that I have ,was given to me by an elderly aunt she had no family, My aunt was bombed from her home in the North Strand in may 1941, she escaped with minor injuries, she resided at Shamrock Cottages which was 100 yards from where the bomb fell. I do recall been taken to the site of the bombing by my mother, I have many memories of this time growing up in Dublin. "
