Finger the Irish Wolfhound with his owner Mrs Corcoran of the North Strand, Dublin who was used as a model for the old 6d Irish coin

"Finbar was born in 1925 and had 24 offspring as a stud dog and is behind over 108,000 descendants to date. He was used as a model for the old 6d Irish coin first introduced in 1928 with over 52 million coins minted up to 1969 and today appears on a €15 coin in the Central Bank's collectors series with 9,000 reproductions. Surely the most famous dog in Ireland. This photo was taken at a Dog Show at Crystal Palace in 1927 and was donated to the Irish Wolfhound Club of Ireland by the Corcoran Family."
