Junior Postwoman

"I was the first Junior Postwoman in Ireland in the 70's. I passed at ninth place in all of Ireland in the exam in 1977 and was appointed in March 1979, when another girl was appointed with me, as they were unwilling to have just me alone among all the teenage boys. I started in the GPO and then went to the Savings Bank as in house JP and then, when I was 18, I was promoted to Postwoman in Sherriff St Sorting Office. I donated the original documents to the GPO as I was concerned that they could be lost by future generations."
