Call Up to play for Clare in Minor Hurling Munster semi final 1953

"1953. No phones. A letter arrived calling my Uncle Donal to play in the Minor Hurling Munster semi final between Clare and Tipperary. No words can adequately describe what an honour this would have been to my Uncle at the age of 17 and what followed was a total devotion to Clare hurling from then on. Clare were beaten by Tipperary who went on to win the Minor Hurling final in 1953. My Uncle moved from Ennistymon to Castlecomer Co Kilkenny where he married and had a family of 7. He never lost his passion for his native county and especially for Clare hurling. He passed away too soon at the age of 72 in 2008."
