Bank of Ireland Bicentenary Medallion

"On the morning of the 25th June 1783, Bank of Ireland first opened its doors to the Public at Mary's Abbey (near the Four Courts) Dublin. A new Bank premises was purchased on the east side of Westmoreland Street in 1799 and, in 1803, Parliament House, College Green, was purchased for a consideration of £40,000. These impressive premises were opened to the Public in 1808 and remained the Head Office of the Bank until the mid-1960s and are now its principal Dublin branch. ... To mark the historic occasion of its Bicentenary, Bank of Ireland commissioned the issue of a special commemorative Medallion from Ogham Crafts Limited in a limited edition. These Medallions have been struck from silver mined at Tynagh, Co. Galway, and have been hallmarked by the Assay Office, Dublin Castle. ... The obverse shows the South Portico of the Bank's College Green branch with the statues, from left to right, of Fidelity, Hibernia and Commerce. The reverse features the Bank´s specially designed Bicentenary Motif, based on the figure two. ... The Medallions are 38mm in diameter and have a minimum weight of 1 Troy Ounce (31.10 grammes)."
