"John McGahern taught me English at St. John the Baptist Primary School, (Belgrove), Clontarf, Dublin in the late '50s. This book is of memories of his own upbringing in County Leitrim. I served Mass at the local Church of Saint John the Baptist where Reverend Father Carton was the Parish Priest and who, eventually ,had the task of 'stepping down' John from his teaching post."
