A stitch holder for darning.
"This is a stitch holder of some kind that I remember my aunt using when she darned her husbands's socks and my long stockings. I can't quite remember how it was used and have not been able to find out exactly how it was used so far. The Fountain Pen is a Sheaffers pen which belonged to my aunt and was a present from her husband in 1936 and she gave it to me when I went into first year in the Sisters of Charity Secondary Top, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary . in 1958. "
