Dublin Millennium

"A milk bottle carrying the Dublin crest celebrating 1000 years of Dublin history. All Dubliners felt a real sense of pride and place in celebrating this event at the time. Carmencita Hederman (Independent) was Lord Major at the time followed by Ben Briscoe (Fianna Fáil). The statue of Molly Malone by Jeanne Rynhart was unveiled in Grafton Street, Dublin and the Anna Livia fountain by Éamonn O'Doherty was installed in O'Connell Street to mark the city's millennium though most Dubliner's know these monuments by 'slang' names. It was an important event in terms of encouraging civic pride among Dubliners at a time when Ireland was just beginning to move out of the last economic recession."
