A CATHOLIC EX-SERVICEMEN'S ASSOCIATION MEMBERSHIP CARD

"As a protest against the activities of the British Army in nationalist areas of Northern Ireland, men who had served with the British Army in the past formed the Catholic Ex-Servicemen's Association to hep defend and protect their areas. I lived in Creggan Estate in Derry at the time and although I had never served in the British Forces, joined the Association as an auxiliary. I was only one of hundreds of men and youths who joined to help patrol the areas in which we lived acting as a de facto police service."
