Portrait of Ireland photo book

"A German photographer Adolph Morath came to Ireland in 1951 and travelled around Ireland and took photos of ordinary and famous people . My mother Kathleen McGillicuddy ,cousin , uncle and grandfather were photographed just as they looked on the day and ordinary citizens in Tiernabaul, Killarney. Famous people photographed also were Eamonn de Valera, Sean T Kelly, Sean Lemass, Sean McBride, Maud Gonne, Mgt. Pearse,Siobhan McKenna among many more . This book has been in the family since 1951.George Bernard Shaw who did not like photographers stated of the photographer ‘He is first rate. I have never seen better photographs’-see photos For his comments. A unique record of photos of Ireland in the 1950’s. This book is now very hard to come by ."
