1947 Irish Independent 'Gurly Wee' Annual
"'Annuals' were very acceptable books as Christmas presents for generations of Irish children, however long before the popular British titles were readily available, in the years after the second world war, the Irish Independent published a 'Curly Wee and his Friends' Annual, featuring the cartoon pig, who still features in the Independent to-day. The cover of this Annual includes Nelson Pillar, no long gone but Curly Wee lives on!"
