"This ball was used in the 1958 Kerry G.A.A. Minor football club championship final . The match was won by Tralee’s John Mitchel’s Club. My late father, Michael Jacques McDonnell, was the team Trainer and I was the team mascot. He painted the ball in the team’s colours of green and gold, with the players names inscribed in Irish. My father’s father, (my Grandfather) was chairman of the G.A.A. Munster Council in 1913 and was also involved with the Irish Volunteers. Ironically his father, my great grandfather was an R.I.C. officer in the 1880’s."
