Rathmines & Rathgar Programme - Gaiety Theatre 9th May 1924

"A special silk programme to mark the presence of the Governor General, Tim Healy, at the R&R’s performance of Iolanthe at the Gaiety Theatre Dublin on 9th May 1924. The Rathmines and Rathgar Musical Society was founded in 1913 and ever since, without interruption, has put on two shows a year - in the Gaiety Theatre until 1984 and since then at the National Concert Hall. The R&R has performed through all the momentous events of modern Irish History, literally from the Lockout to the Bailout and beyond. Over the years the R&R has welcomed the current Head of State to their shows, starting with the Lord Lieutenant, then the Governor General and later the President - including Presidents De Valera, Childers, Hillery, McAleese and Higgins.
