1918 Voting Registration Slip
"This is one of my most treasured possessions, a voting slip from the first time women were allowed to vote in Ireland. It is a reminder of the importance of voting and that one person, one vote did not come about easily. In this election, not every adult female was eligible to vote. Bridget must have been over 30 and had certain property rights because suffrage rights for men and women were not fully equalised until 1928. I found this voting slip in an old trunk in a house my wife and I bought. I didn’t realise the significance of it when I found it, but it is only now, 100 years later, that I realise its importance. I covered up the surname because even though it’s a very long time ago, I feel Bridget deserves privacy."
