Scrap Saturday CDs
"The CDs were presented in 2003 when ‘Scrap: The Collection’ went platinum. They hang in my study at home and stare at the back of my head as I work. In the early 1990’s my father, Dermot Morgan, created Scrap Saturday and wrote the series with Gerard Stembridge. The show tapped into Ireland’s latent frustration and disrespect for our political elites. It was (and is) not only very funny but also overtly political. Any topical satire since owes its creative sensibilities to Scrap. When I look at the CDs, my father acting the maggot outside the Taoiseach’s office on the cover, I think of how his sense of anger and of mischief created topical political satire which people still reference. After nearly 30 years, that’s an incredible feat. "
