Dinner Menu from1933
"This is a dinner menu from 1933 for the Lancashire Social Circle at the Carlton Hall, Belfast, as part of their visit to Northern Ireland. My grandfather, Thomas Ramsey, worked in the Harbour Power Station, and kept pigeons as a hobby. I found this dinner menu when I was clearing out my mother’s house. It’s fascinating because I have no idea how or why a working man like my grandfather would have been invited to such a grand and lavish dinner. The dinner menu lists eight lavish courses. One of the courses is described simply as cigarette As my grandfather didn’t smoke, I also have the four cigarettes that were served as this course, in the original box. They were Player’s Bachelor Cork Tips Cigarettes. "
