"These belonged to my grandparents. They worked in a “big house” so it must have been a present or a wedding present. I presume my grandparents got married around 1911 and I supposed they must have gotten it then. They hold mysteries for me; I don’t know anything about them. My grandmother died young so the family dispersed slightly. I think my mother moved into that home, and she had great respect for these objects. They are sacred because they belonged to my maternal grandmother. "
