Hot water bottle
"This is a ceramic hot water bottle, also called stone hot water bottle that was used in the same way as we use rubber ones now. The top would have screwed off and it would have been filled with hot water and placed into a bed or even on the floor of a train carriage to keep travellers feet warm. The bottom is flat so that it wouldn’t move around and there is a knob on one end so it could be picked up easily when hot. This one is stamped “Bourne Denby England” which I presume refers to the maker. I’m not sure exactly what year it is from as it belonged to my Granny. "
