First World War banner from Chinese Labour Corps
"My grandfather Jim Maultsaid was born in America to Donegal parents who had travelled to Philadelphia in 1892 in search of work. When Jim was 3 he returned home to Letterkenny. He lived there with his family until he was 18, then travelled to Belfast in search of work, joining the army on the outbreak of war in 1914. He was wounded at the Somme, after recovering he went to officers training in England. From there he was commissioned to the Chinese Labour corps and stayed until 1920. When leaving his men they presented him with a banner painted by a young Chinese man from the Chinese Labour Corps in 1919. "
