Women at the "Last Supper"

"Women were first allowed to vote in Great Britain and Ireland in 1918. Mary Robinson was elected the first woman President of Ireland in 1990. The Church of Ireland voted to allow women priests in 1990. This painting of the "Last Supper" with the women present was commissioned by the Irish group BASIC (Brothers And Sisters In Christ) who support women priests in the Roman Catholic Church. In 1999 a framed copy of the "Last Supper" was presented by BASIC to President Mary McAleese at Áras an Uachtaráin. In 2001 the First International "Women's Ordination Worldwide" conference was held in Dublin. To mark this international conference the "Last Supper" was on 7 billboards around Ireland (photo shows Donnybrook site). "
