Auction in aid of the Biafra famine

"The independent country of Biafra attempted to leave Nigeria in May 1967. This led to the Nigerian civil war. Blockades were set up, and food shortages among the Biafra people developed quickly. By November of '67 the Nigerian Red Cross were appealing for international food support. In Ireland, various fund raising activities took place, including an auction of modern Irish art, which was put on display in the iconic Ballsbridge home of Robin Walker Architect. Almost all major Irish artists of the period were included in the auction. Many Irish NGOs worked hard to help the beleaguered Biafran people. The list is now attached to the back of a sketch by Evie Hone. "
