NFA Farmers March 1966

"In NFA House in 1966, nine men decided that enough was enough and decided to march from all over Ireland to meet with the Irish Government, to achieve better rights for farmers. This beer mat was signed by eight of those nine men, the ninth being our Dad, Seán Healy, the then General Secretary of the N.F.A. To keep it safe, the weaving was added shortly after by Bernadette Maher, sister of T.J. Maher (one of the signaturees and later President of the I.F.A.) The briefcase belonged to Dad and he was never without it. Many important N.F.A. and I.F.A. documents have been kept in this case, which is over 60 years old. It was present at every farmers meeting in Ireland and could tell a great history! The photo attached is of Dad."
