General Lucas' Pipe

"Brigadier General Lucas kidnapped by the IRA in the 1920s – while fishing in Fermoy. The IRA smuggled him from Cork to West Limerick and then to East Clare. In West Limerick my Granduncle, Tom Kelly, was given the job of burning his clothes and pipe (but he held on to the pipe). Lucas later escaped from them in East Limerick but said of his captors to be ‘gentlemen’. I found this in my Parent’s house, it was given to them by my Dad’s uncle. "
