Electric copper kettle

"This kettle was rescued by my father, Gene Moriarty R.I.P. who was an Elrctricle Contractor in LISTOWEL Co Kerry, from an old house which was being demolished in the 60’s. I remember as a young fella of 9 or 10 asking him why he was holding onto an ‘auld kettle, what was so special about it ? ”Come here ‘till I show you” he said,....”it’s dated” And he turned it over,...and so it was, 12/36 (Dec ‘36). , also separately stamped by the ESB (who he served his apprenticeship with, like myself). As you know the ESB were only founded in 1927. So this kettle was pre WW2, in a developing fledgling new Ireland. It predates the Rural Electrification which started in 1945. & finished in 1982. The fact that it was so rigerously stamped both by the manufacturer and vendor, ie the ESB shows what a Mod Con it was. It’s traceability was so important to both. "
