Certificate of service
"This is my fathers (that’s right) certificate that hangs in my mothers house. It is testimony of his service 1916 -1921 in the Fourth Northern Division. He played an active role in the civil war and was under sentence of death for his activities. The sentence was later commuted. He also made a daring escape from Dundalk jail along with 150 others prisoners during the 1920. Full military honors were rendered at his graveside. My mother is still alive and must be one of the last if not the last person in receipt of the “Old I.R.A. Pension’."
