Recollections of Old Athlone /John McCormack

"This is a manuscript written in the 1920s by my great grandfather Michael Kilkelly . He was Organist and Choirmaster in St. Peter's Church , Athlone and taught the young John McCormack from the age of 8 . It includes funny stories about townspeople including one describing an argument in the street between himself and John McCormack's father Andrew because Michael Kilkelly was adamant John should pursue a singing career and his father Andrew disagreed. It was published in the Westmeath Independent in 1932 but he must have intended to publish it as a book as I found this cover with blank pages!"
