Carrigaline Pottery

""Classic " Carrigaline. The Carrigaline Pottery ran from 1928-1979. Some of the late period banded pottery mimicked three stripe Cornish pottery or in some models moved two thin blue stripes to either the top or the bottom of the piece. This big thick blue stripe pattern is however is what I consider 'classic' period Carrigaline. Mugs and jugs with this pattern was to be found in almost every rural house in Tipperary in the 1960's and 70's. My granny used this pattern for milk, for buttermilk and for tea. From what I can work out this pattern was in production from about 1930 to the late 1960's. The stripe was most commonly blue but green, yellow and brown stripe versions were also produced. This photo includes the 2 pint, the 3 pint (tall), the 3 pint (wide) milk /buttermilk jug."
