Book Token

"Book tokens were the ideal present from a grandparent to their grandchild, because there was always a fear that a 12 year old child would tell a grandparent that the book that they had just received was "far too babyish" and that they read books like that 6 months ago. This token came from Easons & Company Ltd., of 40-41 Lower O'Connell Street. The date of issue is hard to read, but appears to be: 21/ 12/ '65. That would be one day before my birthday. In 1965, five shillings (about 20 cent. in today's money) would have bought a nice book with good quality illustrations. "
