A telegram
"When people in other countries, or other places in Ireland needed to communicate with somebody, whose location as known, a telegram was the best and fastest means of communication. In this case Mrs. Pugh (nee Hawes) located in Woking, England wished to send greetings to her school-friend Patsy Delany on the occasion of her wedding to Jack McArdle in the Clarence Hotel, Dublin . The sender went to her local post office, and wrote the message and its destination on a form. She never saw all the Irish language text. The postmaster would type the message into a machine, and the same message came out in a post office in Ireland. The message was put in an envelope, and a boy on a bicycle would deliver it to its destination in the form which we see here. "
