Cavendish Furniture Book

"The Cavendish Furniture Shop was a furniture shop in Grafton and Mary Street in Dublin. People paid for their furniture, bit by bit, week by week. My mother, aunts and grandmother all paid for their furniture in this way in Mary Street. The highlight of my week was when my mother went to the Cavendish shop to pay the money for the furniture, and afterwards she would take me (or my brother or sister, as she only took one of the children with her each time) to get an ice cream. My mother sadly passed away this year but as we were clearing out her house, I realised that her bedroom set was Cavendish furniture and about 55 years old. "
