Burial Shroud

"This box of burial shrouds was given to me by a man whose Aunt had a shop in Mallow in Co.Cork. From the 1930s to the late 1980s they never threw out a single item of unsold stock. As a result, many of these items of everyday clothing have survived in perfect condition. From what I can gather, most people were buried in these shrouds. They are long sleeved, full length and made of rough cotton with just enough fabric to cover the front of the body. They all carry the label 'Déantúr Éireann. "
