President & Mrs. John F. Kennedy
"JFK is synonymous with Ireland due to his Irish ancestry and the fact that he visited Ireland in June 1963 and was unfortunately assassinated five months later. For this reason I believe that this plate is synonylous with Irish history and Irish heritage. People speak of JFK's visit to this day with affection in Ireland and this plate is a little piece of that history and nostalgia. This plate is a little different to others I've seen as it is heart shaped and designed to be hung on a wall. I came across this plate in a bric-a-brac shop for €5 and was amazed that the person working in the shop didn't know the significance of it or the history involved. Needless to say the man was not of Irish descent however I've always felt a closeness to this plate and have been very proud of it since as it bears the famous US President of Irish descent that Ireland always loved. I've taken it out to show visitors many times!!! "
