Published 1962 This book was commonly used in schools and homes and was part of my growing up in the 1960’s in Ireland. I have retained it as a piece of social history. The Forward states the following “The purpose of the book is to provide parents and teachers with a summary of the fundamental rules of Courtesy, as they apply to young people of today.” There are 15 chapters in the book and it deals with manners At Home, At table, Cleanliness and Dress, Deportment, Conversation, God’s House –the Church, At School, Extras for Borders, On the Sportsfield, Pastimes In Public, Travelling, Visits to friends Letters and Civic Spirit.
