"This ladies macrame dress purse was made by Daniel McPolin of Portaferry, Co.Down, an internee on the prison ship "Argenta " in Belfast Lough from 1922 to 1925. It was handed down through the family to me together with his War of ndependence Service Medal. The Special Powers Act of the new Unionist government iin Northern Ireland was enacted in April 1922 and many nationalists all over the North were interned."
