Colt 45 Gun
"This Colt 45 gun belonged to my grand-uncle, Mick Hynes. Mick joined the IRA as a teenager and was involved in guerrilla warfare against the British. Eventually he was caught and tried, sent to Pentonville Prison, and subsequently died there. While the reason for his death is unclear from the death certificate, my family believed it was due to maltreatment. This gun was used before the Civil War, and when he went on the run, he gave it to his sister, May, to look after. It is part of my family story and a big part of who we are."
