Glass Carbonated Bottles

"These glass bottles in the wooden box were sent to Luke J. Healy, mineral water manufacturer in Drogheda each month from my grand aunt's home in Gormonston Co. Meath. The water was gassed there, so they could have sparkling water with their dinner. These are quite beautiful in their perfect wooden box. The sparkling water accompanied three course dinners. I remember my grandfather Liam pouring me sparkling water there with the next generation of bottles. The ones with capsules of gas screwed into the top, while these bottles were carefully kept off the pantry. When the farm was sold I saved these from a skip. It has served as a wooden seat in our home ."
