Stout Bottle

"David Lean was such a perfectionist, that when he was making Ryan's Daughter, he got Guinness to produce a special Guinness label to put on the bottles on the shelves of T.Ryan's pub in Kirrary (The Ryan's Daughter Village). Not only would the Guinness bottles be barely seen on the film, but certainly the labels wouldn't. He even got them to make it so authentic as a 1916 label with the bottling date reading backwards (in Red) on the label, but he also added the name of Ryan's pub, Kirrary, Co. Kerry. When the village was blown up after the filming, I understand all the bottles were also destroyed, but for a handful or even less. I have one of them, label still on the bottle. Perfectionist and all as David Lean was, the bottle top was for a crown top not a cork top, but nobody ever noticed! It is certainly a unique item."
