Macrame Bag
"The bag was made for my grandmother by a neighbour man Patrick Leonard who was interned on the Prison Ship Argenta in 1922. He was 1 year older than my grandmother Margaret Chambers who lived at Clonursan, Macken, Enniskillen. He was a Roman Catholic and she was Church of Ireland, he made it for her to carry her hymn book to church. My grandmother often took the bag out of the wrapped cloth and looked at it. When I asked her about him, she just said, "It could never have been." They both went on to marry others and I am told by his son that my great grandmother gave him a small black purse when he got married and he carried it with him all his life. "
