Irish Stamp Collection
"These stamps were collected by an elderly lady, Mrs. Murray, from Ringsend, who told all her friends that she was collecting stamps for charity. Apparently many people gave her used envelopes, and she steamed the envelopes to remove the unfranked stamps. She intended to sell the stamps to a stamp agent for money, and to give the money to the local parish priest for local charities, but, she died before the stamp agent arrived. The only franked stamps in the collection, are the British stamps which were over-stamped by the Irish Government c. 1921. This stamp collection was not stored in an album- it was kept in an envelope. "
