"This booklet is dated 1945. It states that, following suggestions from some Parish Councils and other societies, it was compiled in order to give information on State and other services available to individuals and groups. The index shows over 90 schemes and services which gives some measure of the range of provision then available at a time of austerity and just at the close of WW2. I imagine that many people would be surprised to know of this and that our collective memory tends to forget the efforts of previous generations in this collective national effort. "
