Hessian Bound Girl Guide Notebook

"My wife's mother was a girl guide in the 1930's. She would have been about 12-14 years at the time. She would have used this to make girl guide notes and kept a log of their various outings and things that they did. There's a lot of religion in it which would have been standard at the time but the writing is beautiful compared to our writing today. It's covered in Hessian. The beauty of it is it's entirely home-made. Really when you look at it, it's like looking through a key-hole at the past. That would be my description of it anyway."
