A clock from my family's pub
"This is my family heirloom. It's a clock that was in my family's pub at 35 Pearse Street, Cavan Town. It was a typical type of country pub with a grocery, then a partition to go into the pub. The big days were fair days, the first Tuesday of every month. We lived above the pub. The pub culture was centred around the GAA and the Cavan Gaels were founded in front of this clock. The clock is still ticking over, as are the Gaels. The pub is now a kebab shop and that type of pub is rare to find."
