Sword from the Battle of Kinsale
"Family lore says this sword is from the Battle of Kinsale. When Hugh O’Neill’s forces were retreating from the battle, they came through Sarsfield Court, Glanmire. One of O’Neill’s men was injured, a young bodyguard, and left to die in Sarsfield Court. He was nursed back to health though and I am the ninth generation of his ancestors in Sarsfield Court. This sword has been in the family for generations. My great-grandfather found the sword in a ditch and connected it with the Battle of Kinsale in which our ancestors fought. The handle used to be wooden, but my mother put on the leather handle."
