Irish Hospitals’ Sweepstake Ticket
"There was great excitement in my 1960s childhood if your family held a sweeps stake ticket. This was found in Margaret Healy’s house at Burke Street, Fethard, Co. Tipperary. Margaret’s brother Michael went on to breed the Aintree Grand National winner of 1996. Sadly Michael senior died the day after the foal (Rough Quest) was born, 11th May 1986. Michael junior sold the gelding as a 4 year old. Rough Quest was ridden to Grand National victory by Mick Fitzgerald, trained by Terry Casey (RIP) owned by Andrew Waites."
