Gateaux Irish World Cup and Wallchart Collection

"Gotta Getta Gateaux Gotta Getta Gateaux Cake If you want it freshly baked you Gotta Gateaux Cake. Ahh that song is a true throwback to the childhood of one growing up in the late 80s / 1990s. Long before the multiples and the likes of tesco aldi et al came to Ireland Gateaux cakes were a staple of the Irish family. To mark Ireland's participation in a World Cup they brought out a collector cards series. There were 24 to collect and each card was placed inside the box packaging on top of the cake. It was a nightmare if you had the chocolate cake as the brown always seemed to mark the back of the card HAHA!!! I remember when out doing the weekly shop I made it my job to get the "sweet cake". I would dash to the gateaux cakes aisle and get the cake. I must admit I did open a few boxes to see if there was a Tony cascarino or John Sheridan before putting it in the trolley ooooh the memories. What makes this set unique is that I also collected tokens which when I had enough collected sent away for the wallchart which houses them "
