Muffin the Mule Marionette
"He was very famous in the 30s to 50s, and then after that they made copies of him but they were not as beautiful as the original. He became very popular on British children television. His original design was in the 1930s. I love this puppet, I have it all my life. Ann Hogarth and Jann Bussell designed the marionette and worked on the television. This is the original 50s design. I’m so happy to include him in the archive, he has been with me all my life. My dad was brilliant with that sort of stuff and he used to work him for us. I think it was from my sister. Annette Mills, sister of John Mills, brought him onto television. Muffin has a song as well! My mother was a pianist and she bought me the song book, and we used to sing the song. In the 60s, it was bought by Pelham and he produced the new series. The original Muffin the Mule puppet featured on television was lost. "
